So...after all my efforts to boost my immunity (I'm not talking Survivor here)I feel like a complete failure. When Wes started getting sick 2 weeks ago I wasn't too worried. Usually it's just another sinus infection that a quick trip to the Instacare will fix....uhhhh, nope, this required both a trip to the Instacare followed 2 days later by a trip to the ER followed 2 days later by a trip to another doctor! Lovely. He went from sinus infection to bronchitis to viral pneumonia. Now I have pneumonia too! Sweet...we're twinners. Two miserable old people taking sanctuary in our bedroom (and office) so as not to expose the rest of the family to our cooties. Dang, this has been one wasted week! Except for the fact that BYU beat out UF!! ...woohoo...go cougars...!!
Anyway, we're miserable.

Starting Fresh!
This week I have had two kind reminders to post on my blog, so here goes....
I had an amazing day in American Fork Canyon! Wes wanted to go for a ride and check out Tibble Fork Reservoir in AFC. It was a nice day so I agreed but didn't pay too much attention to the snowshoes and other gear he put into the back of the SUV. We enjoyed the ride up into the canyon...everything was covered in beautiful sparkling snow and the higher we got the more breathtaking the scenery became. Parking was limited at the reservoir because it seemed like everyone had the same idea about spending time in the mountains. I was glad Wes had put my hiking boots in the car because it was a little slushy and slippery in the parking lot. We set out on a hike and although the snow was compact there were some very deep mounds that freaked me out. At this point Wes made his move and said "wouldn't you feel safer with snowshoes on?" He has been trying for two winters to get me to go snowshoeing with him. I caved in and agreed that it might be a good idea so he hiked all the way back to the car and came back with snowshoes for both of us plus those pole thingies that are amazing at keeping awkward people (like me) from slipping and sliding all over the place. We had a really nice hike and took a few pictures that I would love to post but someone needs to help me with that...where are my 12 year old grand daughters when I need them? Whoops they are 13 year olds now...sorry Carlie and Brooke!
I owe my nice day up in the mountains to Excedrin Back and Body plus a couple of Advil. Oh, and thanks Wes for waiting so patiently for me to agree to try snowshoeing. If I can get up in the morning without feeling like a snow mobile ran me over, who knows....maybe I'll go again. Next year.

Oh my grits, I have a BLOG!!
For sometime now I have had a secret desire to create my own blog. I thought the purpose of the blog would be to show my sewing and paper art creations and maybe even generate a few sales. There is an absolutely fabulous magazine by Stampington & Co. called "Artful Blogging" that fueled my interest and hope in developing such a blog for myself.
I admit openly and without shame that it is harder for me to understand the ins and outs of the cyber world than it was to learn and speak Dutch. So I took advantage of my darling 12 year old granddaughter, Carlie, who had an extended visit after her family went back to Montana, to learn the ropes of blogging.
Mission accomplished! Thanks Carlie for all your help and patience and incredible ability to not laugh your head off while teaching me to set up my blog. I guess you won't be surprised to learn that I accidentally deleted my first entry today. *sigh* Oh well, this is definately a "learn as you go" endeavor.
Now that my blog "Wishes that Sparkle" is a reality, I'm wondering how to combine my arty stuff with my "deep thoughts"? Maybe it doesn't matter. I'll just jump in and see what happens!
